How to use DocStop

If you become ill on the road or suffer from sudden pain, you should not continue driving. You could endanger yourself and other road users. Taking painkillers or other medicines without medical advice can also lead to reduced driving ability.

So if you get sick on the road, call the free DocStop hotline on 008000 DOCSTOP (008000 3627867) or find a DocStop drop-off point with a doctor and truck parking near your location on our location map or in your driver app.

IMPORTANT: DocStop does not have doctors coming to the truck park or service area.

First, drive to one of the 1200+ DocStop drop-off locations with truck parking. They will tell you the best way to get to the nearest doctor.

In case of life-threatening illness or injury, call the emergency services immediately on 112.

The doctors and clinics in the DocStop network mainly help with "minor" illnesses that you would normally go to the family doctor for, such as severe colds, constant headaches, sudden back pain or toothache.

For all life-threatening illnesses, unconsciousness, respiratory arrest, serious injuries such as fractures or wounds with high blood loss, please call the emergency services on 112.

Yes, all doctors in the DocStop network are located not far from a truck parking area - on average no more than 1.4 km away. The points of contact shown on the map are usually at rest stops and car parks, at haulage companies or commercial vehicle service companies, where drivers who are ill can usually park free of charge for the duration of their visit to the doctor. At many of the contact points there are contact persons who can provide more detailed information on the nearest doctor and how to get there.

The DocStop team works entirely on a voluntary basis, the referral service is free of charge for the drivers, as is the use of the hotline. The costs of treatment are covered by the health insurance company, just as with a general practitioner. The doctors settle their accounts directly with the health insurance company, via a foreign health insurance voucher or by means of cash payment.
